Wmspt Police announce arraignment of Suspect in Cabbie shooting

May 22, 2014

The Williamsport Bureau of Police have identified and are charging the individual responsible for the shooting of Eugene Phillips a cab driver with the Billtown cab driver during the early morning hours of Thursday May 15th.

This investigation and timely arrest was only made possible through the cooperation of multiple law enforcement agencies including the Lycoming county District Attorney’s office, the Pennsylvania State Police, and the outstanding investigative efforts of the Williamsport Bureau of Police Criminal Investigation Division.

It cannot be overstated that the cooperation of numerous citizens who have willingly come forward and provided information, have made this arrest possible. Without the information provided by members of our community this arrest would not have been possible. We commend our citizens for a job well done.

The individual will be arraigned at approximately 230 pm in front of District Justice Allen Page. Agents of the Williamsport Bureau of Police incarcerated the suspect on another matter days earlier to ensure the safety of our residents.

The suspect will be booked at Williamsport Bureau of Police headquarters prior to the arraignment. Once again we would like to thank our citizens for standing up for the community and assisting police in this investigation and may this serve as an example of what an involved citizenry can do to protect one another from dangerous individuals who refuse to conform to Williamsport’s way of life.
