Three alarm fire hits Williamsport area home

At around 4:30 PM Friday evening, Williamsport Bureau of Fire responded to 928 Elizabeth Street, Williamsport for a roof and attic fire. Once units arrived on scene, the 2nd alarm was quickly called. All off duty city firemen were called to respond and local fire units units from surrounding areas including South Williamsport, Loyalsock, Montoursville and Montgomery were called to respond.

Washington Bouldveard from Mulberry Street to Franklin Street was closed off to traffic to allow another water line into the area. Hughes Street traffic was also affected. A crowd of people gathered in Brandon Park to watch the event.

The fire was declared under control nearly two hours later.
