Police report various incidents

Pennsylvania State Police Montoursville reported the following incidents:

Dec. 3 to Dec. 8, Police reported that an unknown actor scammed the Dorris Allen, 84, of Muncy, and Kathy Frantz, 60, of Hughesville, by making them believe they won $250,000 through the Publisher's Clearing House. After receiving a notice and check in the mail, the victims contacted their "Assigned Agent, Mr. Michael Pearson". Pearson instucted them to cash the check and then wire transfer the money to two different people located in Florida. The victims then discovered the check to be fraudulent. The total monetary loss is $6,545. 

Dec. 26 to Jan. 16, Police reported that an unknown actor cut a lock into the Old Weis Market building, 152 Boak Ave., Wolf Township, and removed approximately 2000 ft. of copper piping and approximately 3000 ft. of copper wire from inside the building. Any person with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Trooper Buynak at PSP Montoursville, 570-368-5700. 

7 to 9 p.m. Dec. 29, Police reported that an actor entered the home of Michelle Berger, 40, of Williamsport, and stole presents from under her Christmas tree. It was later determined that the victim was intoxicated and fave the gifts back to the person who purchased the gifts during a verbal argument on Dec. 28. The gifts were then returned to Walmart by the purchaser. The investigation was unfounded when it was determined no crime was committed. 

12:51 p.m. Jan. 22, Police reported that a crash occurred as a vehicle driven by Lisa Smith, 42, of Dushore, was traveling east bound on Washington Blvd. The vehicle had come to stop caused by traffic. A vehicle driven by Denise Ecker, 52, of Williamsport, was behind Smith's vehicle and did not see Smith stop. Ecker's vehicle struck the rear of Smith's vehicle. Ecker will be cited for Careless Driving. 

5:15 p.m. Jan. 26, Police reported that Jeremy Benfer, 31, of Muncy, and Christina Lucas, 32, of Montoursville, engaged in a verbal argument when they exchanged custody of their child. During the argument, Benfer verbally threated to kill Lucas. Summary harrassment charges have been filed against Benfer. 

6:45 to 11:15 p.m. Jan. 26, Police reported that unknown actors forced entry into the residence belonging to Robert Fluck, 28. The unknown actors took prescription medication and fled. Anyone with information is asked to contact PSP Montoursville. 

6:06 p.m. Jan. 28, Police reported that a crash occurred as a vehicle driven by James Splian, 41, of Linden, was in the left lane of Old Montoursville Road heading east. A vehicle driven by Floyd Koch, 79, of Jersey Shore, had exited 180 and come down into the right lane of Old Montoursville Road. Koch's vehicle started to merge into the left hand lane and struck the right front end of Splain's vehicle. After impact, Koch's vehicle spun in a counterclockwise direction and went across the raised concrete barrier between the west bound and east bound lanes of Old Montoursville Road. The vehicle then rolled completely over, coming to final rest facing west off the right hand side of Old Montoursville Road. Koch will be cited for Driving on Roadways Laned for Traffic.
