Wmspt PD officer involved in accident - name released

Police Update: State Police, Montoursville, Pa have released the name of the Williamsport Bureau of Police officer that was driving the car involved in Sunday night's fatal accident at East Third St. and Railway St., Williamsport. James David Robinson, 42 years old, died in the incident.

Officer Jonathan Deprenda, 32 years old, was the other driver involved in Sunday night's fiery accident.  According to a web page on the Williamsport Bureau of Police web site, Deprenda joined the force in August 2011 along with 4 other new officers.  See http://www.williamsportpd.org/Pages/Department%20News.aspx  for that info and a picture of Deprenda.

The accident caused over 500 customers in Williamsport to lose electric power for over 2 hours.

The State Police are in charge of the investigation of the accident. The wrecked Police car is impounded at the State Police impound area.
