Police pursuit results in deadly crash
January 13, 2014
At 6:50 p.m. Jan. 12, Williamsport City Police officers were involved in a vehicle pursuit of a wanted suspect in the east end of the city. The vehicle that police were pursuing crashed into a tree and the lone wanted suspect was arrested.
At about the same time, other officers were converging into the area of that pursuit. A city police cruiser was involved in a two car crash in the area of E. Third Street and Railway St.
The police crusiser and a vehicle driven by James Robinson, 42, of Williamsport, were traveling east when the two vehicles collided. Robinson's vehicle struck a utility pole and then crashed into a building. The vehicle caught on fire, causing part of the building to catch on fire. Robinson died at the scene.
The Williamsport Bureau of Police and the Pennsylvania State Police are conducting a joint investigation of that crash.
Any further developments will be provided as they become available.
