CONTRACTING OPPORTUNITIES WITH THE BUREAU OF PRISONS

October 18, 2013

Federal Bureau of Prison (BOP) facilities in Allenwood and Lewisburg buy more than $45 million in goods and services every year, representing a “…great opportunity…” for firms in Central Pennsylvania, according to Kristen Moyer, Procurement Specialist with the SEDA-COG Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC). Firms seeking contracts with the two facilities are invited to learn more at Doing Business with the Federal Bureau of Prisons, hosted by the SEDA-COG PTAC and Greater Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce.

The workshop will be held Thursday, November 7 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the Chamber’s office on Routes 11 & 15 in Shamokin Dam, PA.

Five contracting officers will participate in the seminar, three from Allenwood and two from Lewisburg. Mrs. Moyer said, “This is a unique opportunity for area firms to meet and speak directly with the individuals who make purchasing decisions for these two facilities.”

Attendees will learn how to locate government-wide Requests for Quotations, solicitations which require an exact quote for a specific amount of items. There are a number of products and services the Allenwood and Lewisburg prisons are interested in:

  • Food & beverage supplies
  • Building supplies
  • Recreation equipment
  • Medical supplies
  • Computers & related equipment
  • Education services
  • Cleaning supplies
  • Paper supplies
  • Medical services

“The workshop will be particularly useful to firms with any involvement in these products or services,” said Mrs. Moyer. There is no registration fee, however seating is limited and pre-registration is required. Interested individuals may register at http://bit.ly/1gKmPju, or call Mrs. Moyer at
