Community Health Education will hold a series of screenings through the month of March.

Comprehensive Blood Screen: Wednesday, March 13, 7-10 am at Elmcroft of Loyalsock. A low cost comprehensive blood screening can provide important details about your health, sometimes before symptoms of a condition surface, giving you and your physicians the power to plan ahead. $30 fee includes lipid panel (HDL, LDL, total cholesterol and triglycerides), complete blood count, and CMP (blood sugar, electrolytes, calcium, protein, liver enzymes etc.). Other tests available upon request. Appointments required. Call (570) 768-3200.

Free Body Composition and BMI Screen: Friday, March 15, 10 am-1 pm, at Mifflinburg Weis Markets. This screen uses a Tanita scale to measure your weight, BMI, and percent of body fat. Your results will be reviewed by a Community Health Educator. They will discuss the significance of your numbers and ways to improve them. No pre-registration is required.

Healthy Legs for Living (formerly Legs for Life): Tuesday, March 19, 9 am-Noon, at the Mifflinburg Family Practice Center. This free screening program is for people who are concerned they may be at risk for Peripheral Vascular Disease. Common symptoms are aching, tiredness or cramping in the legs, numbness, tingling or coldness, or sores on the feet which don’t heal. Appointments required. Call (570) 768-3200.

Skin Cancer Screen: Friday, March 22, 12-3 pm, at Lewisburg Plastic Surgery, office of Dr. Normington, 135 Walter Drive, Lewisburg. This screening will help you recognize your own pattern of moles, freckles, and “beauty marks”. We will help you become more alert to changes in the number, size, shape, and color of pigmented areas.
