Man Jailed Following Alleged Drug Possession in Williamsport
Man Jailed Following Alleged Drug Possession in Williamsport - The Williamsport Bureau of Police Vice Narcotics, in conjunction with the Pennsylvania State Police, Lycoming County Drug Task Force, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (Williamsport office), made a controlled purchase of heroin last evening. The purchase resulted in the arrest of Benjamin J. Britford, who was in possession of a handgun at the time of his arrest. As a result of the arrest, a search warrant was obtained for Britford's rental unit at 1380 Whitman Street in Williamsport. It was there officers discovered three additional firearms in the residence, in addition to three bundles of heroin and other related items used in the trafficking of controlled substances. Two of the firearms were handguns, one of which was confirmed to have been stolen out of Milton, while the other firearm was a shotgun. Britford was remanded to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $150,000 bail, authorities said.
