Lycoming Sets2013 PMPEI Municipal Training Series
The Lycoming County Planning Commission sponsored the Pennsylvania Municipal Planning Education Institute’s (PMPEI) Municipal Training Series in 2012 with overwhelming success. In 2013, the Lycoming County Planning Commission once again will be offering the educational series for municipal officials. The Municipal Training Series includes three PMPEI courses, including Community Planning, Zoning, and Subdivision & Land Development. Participants who complete all three courses will be publically recognized and receive an achievement certificate.
The courses are suitable for all interested municipal leaders including City Officials, Redevelopment Authority Members, Borough Council Members, Township Supervisors, Planning Commission Members, Zoning Officers, and Zoning Hearing Board Members. The series will be especially informative for newly-elected/appointed municipal leaders and people interested in learning more about municipal duties. Municipal officials who have participated in PMPEI Courses offered in prior years can utilize those courses toward the completion of the certificate program.
The 2013 Municipal Training Series will be held at Lycoming County’s Lysock View Complex, 524 County Farm Road, Montoursville. Each course includes three sessions, with each session lasting approximately three hours. These sessions begin at 6:00 p.m. and end at 9:15 p.m. Refreshments will be provided during breaks. Details about each of the courses are enclosed, including the main topics covered in each.
• The first course in the series focusing on Community Planning will be offered on Tuesdays, March 12, 19 and 26, 2013.• The second course in the series focusing on Zoning will be offered Tuesdays, April 9, 16 and 23, 2013.
• The third course in the series focusing on Subdivision and Land Development will be offered Tuesdays, May 7, 14 and 21, 2013.
The schedule for the three courses has been designed so participants can take one or more of them in 2013. The number of participants in each course is limited to a maximum capacity of 35.
Therefore, it is important to register early. Registration forms can be picked up at the Lycoming County Department of Planning & Community Development. Participants can register for one or more courses at the same time.
The series of courses may be taken for continuing education credit from the State Real Estate Commission, State Board of Certified Real Estate Appraisers, PA Continuing Legal Education Board, State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists, and Penn State University. Additional fees may be required for continuing education credits.
The County of Lycoming, Lycoming County Planning Commission, the Central Section of the American Planning Association Pennsylvania Chapter, Sullivan/Lycoming Boroughs Association, and Penn State Extension are sponsor partners for the Municipal Training Series.
Thanks to the financial co-sponsors of the series, each course is being offered at a low cost of only $45 per person or $135 per person for all three courses. If you have any questions, please contact Lycoming County Planning at 570-320-2130.
