Message from George Greig
Secretary of Agriculture

This has been a memorable week. From recordbreaking crowds to many new events, this Farm Show is a great reminder of the nat’l treasure we have right here in PA with our rich farmland, strong ag heritage and more than 62,000 farm families. We celebrated milestones in youth scholarships, PCN’s coverage and our family farms. We did it with the support of hundreds of thousands of visitors to the show, the many more watching it on televisions across the state and our partners in the ag industry. I thank them and also our PDA staff, who have spent nearly a year preparing for this event – a showcase of PA ag’s best. The butter sculpture is full of details that speak to our industry’s diversity. The PA Preferred® Culinary Connection, Commodity Showcase and Marketplace show shoppers how easy it is to find products from right here in PA. Our animal exhibits provide a personal connection between farmer and consumer. Everywhere you look you'll see what’s made in PA. You feel and taste how it makes a difference. Thanks for joining me this week. I urge you: long after we close the doors on the 2013 PA Farm Show, continue to support PA ag and buy PA Preferred®. Made in PA. It makes a difference.
