Creating Pennsylvania's Largest Greenway

As 2012 comes to an end it is time
to reflect on our accomplishments and look towards the future. The Susquehanna Greenway Partnership has recently released our 2012 Progress Report a summary of the work of SGP and our partners in creating places where people are connected to the natural and cultural resources of the Susquehanna and can live active, healthy lives.

Please consider giving yourself or a friend the gift of membership in the Susquehanna Greenway Partnership. By joining us in making a financial contribution you are becoming an important partner in creating the Susquehanna Greenway. Because of your investment we are a stronger champion for the Greenway and are able to conserve, revitalize, and connect Susquehanna communities through our successful programs for RiverTowns Revitalization,  Water Trails, and Environmental Stewardship and Conservation.

The Susquehanna Greenway Partnership envisions a balanced and sustainable regional economy, where we value and conserve productive farmland and forests, where environmentally friendly businesses thrive and river towns are centers of commerce, culture and human activity.

Below is a short list of accomplishments, please read our 2012 Progress Report for a more complete list.
  • Provided technical assistance for public river access, green infrastructure improvements, and downtown revitalization in 19 river town communities through the Susquehanna Greenway's River Towns Technical Assistance Program.
  • Assisted with recovery efforts in flood damaged communities.
  • Worked collaboratively with Chesapeake Conservancy, DCNR, PFBC, Bucknell University and Native Americans to secure designation of the Susquehanna Connecting Trail to the Captain John Smith National Historic Trail.
  • Conducted the West Branch Susquehanna Educational Sojourn
  • Advocated for farmland preservation, conservation of open space, restoring and protecting PA's streams and rivers, improving and expanding state and local parks, and developing new trails.
  • With support from the Water Resource Education Network, SGP worked with the Columbia County Conservation District, DEP, and Pennsylvania American Water to create a Source Water Environmental Education Team in Columbia County.
With your support in 2013 we can:
  • engage volunteers in cleanups and trail work
  • create more walking and biking trails
  • create more parks and greenways
  • improve river access points and riverfront parks
  • green the downtowns of our river towns
  • help improve and protect our water resources
  • find new uses for historic and abandoned buildings
  • create more local green-collar jobs
  • celebrate our river heritage, and
  • make our communities better places to live
Whether you are a new member or have been on this journey with us from the start, please make a donation to the Susquehanna Greenway Partnership today, and know that your gift creates healthy and sustainable Susquehanna communities.
