Alleged Attempted Homicide Reported in Lycoming County - PSP Montoursville have charged a Muncy Valley man with allegedly attempting to kill two people in Penn Township. Trooper Angela Bieber said around 8 p.m. on Dec. 20, William Hellenthal, 60, entered the residence occupied by Jean Hellenthal, 59, and David Barto, 52 at 13 Beaver Run Lane. William Hellenthal allegedly entered with a shotgun and threatened to kill both occupants; shots were fired within the home, Bieber said. Jean Hellenthal was allegedly assaulted by William, resulting in a bruised eye, broken nose and broken rib. Mr. Hellenthal was subdued by Barto until police arrived; both Hellenthals were treated for their injuries at the hospital and released. William Hellenthal was charged and arraigned on charges of criminal attempt homicide, aggravated assault, simple assault and terroristic threats, Bieber said.

Williamsport Man Jailed for Alleged Robbery in Loyalsock Township - PSP Montoursville continue to investigate an alleged burglary/robbery of an elderly woman earlier this month. Trooper Sweet said on Dec. 12 shortly before 1 p.m., Reuben McDowell, 55, of Grace Street Williamsport allegedly followed Jean T. Keller from the Giant Plaza to her residence on Wyndam Court. McDowell allegedly entered Keller's residence when she arrived home and pushed her to ground then removed $400 cash from her purse, Sweet said. McDowell was arrested after he was observed following another older white female out of the Giant Plaza on Dec. 20. PSP Montoursville was conducting surveillance in the area after receiving numerous reports of similar incidents. McDowell was charged with alleged aggravated assault, burglary, two counts robbery, criminal trespass, stalking, theft, receiving stolen property, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, and harassment. He was arraigned by District Judge Paige who set bail at $75,000.
