Williamsport student awarded appointment to Valley Forge Military Academy and College
State Rep. Rick Mirabito congratulates Samantha S. Crane of Williamsport on her appointment to the Valley Forge Military Academy and College.
"We are proud of Ms. Crane's appointment," Mirabito said. "I am always pleased when young people in our community get the opportunities to do something they are committed to."
Mirabito had asked a community committee to recommend a student for a full scholarship to Valley Forge. In addition to Mirabito, the committee was composed of Trey Phillips, president of Phillips Supply House, Inc.; Armstrong Township Supervisor Gene Bennardi; and Philip A. Petter, ambassador of the Army Reserves.
"We happily recommended Miss Crane for the appointment," Mirabito said. "She is hardworking and committed to the service of her country."
Crane, a 2011 graduate of Williamsport High School, serves in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard B Company 832 Ordinance Battalion.
"The appointment of Ms. Crane to Valley Forge includes her nomination to the Army's Early Commissioning Program," Mirabito said. "We look forward to seeing her excel as she grows into a scholar and an outstanding officer."
The Valley Forge Military Academy was founded in 1928 and first admitted women in 2006. Its mission is "to prepare leaders of character, for the commonwealth, the country and the world."
