January 3, 2012

Attempted Kidnapping in Limestone Township – PSP Montoursville continue to investigate an attempted kidnapping which occurred on Tuesday, Jan. 3 around 8:30 a.m. Trooper Douglass Hoffman said a 10-year-old boy was walking northbound along Route 654 when an unknown white male approached in a black pick-up truck with a cap. The truck was traveling northbound toward Williamsport and stopped in the roadway adjacent to the boy. The driver exited the vehicle, opened the tailgate and cap, then picked the boy up with his right arm and moved him toward the back of the truck in an apparent effort to put him into the truck bed, Hoffman said. The victim fought back and struck the suspect in the area of his head. The suspect struck the boy in his chest and dropped him, then fled in his truck toward Williamsport.

The suspect is a white male with fair skin and light brown hair and walked as if he was bow-legged. The suspect appeared to be between 5 foot 6 inches and 5 foot 8 inches in height and around 45 years of age. He did not have any gray hair, nor a bear or mustache. The boy said the man was wearing blue jeans and a gray shirt with buttons. He also related that the suspect had bloodshot eyes, smelled badly and spoke in a language that the victim did not recognize. It is likely that the suspect was intoxicated, Hoffman said.

The truck was of an unknown make but was thought to be a newer model in good condition. It was a four door black pick-up with a gray or black cap and tinted windows. The victim was sure that the truck had a New York registration but could relate the numerals. The bed of the truck did not have anything in it, the boy testified.
