Injuries Reported in Route 287 Crash – PSP Montoursville say both drivers sustained injuries following a two-vehicle accident, in Mifflin Township today shortly after 1 p.m. Trooper Edward Dammer said Shawn P. Barnett, 36 struck a vehicle as it was slowing to stop at the intersection on Damm Run Road at its intersection with Route 287. Barnett was traveling behind Jason C. Souder, 29, of Hunlock Creek as Souder slowed to stop. Barnett’s vehicle struck Souder’s vehicle, forcing Souder’s vehicle across Route 287 through the stop sign, then into the embankment on the opposite side of the highway where it overturned. The highway was closed in both directions; both drivers were transported to Jersey Shore Hospital for treatment, Dammer said.

On Dec. 24, 7:20 p.m., Jaspal Bhogal, 30, of Rochester, NY, sustained minor injury as he was traveling north on Route 15 in Lewis Township. Trooper Troy Hendershot said Bhogal struck a bear which entered the roadway; the vehicle Bhogal was driving then caught on fire. Minor injury was reported at the scene, Hendershot said.
On Dec. 25, around 2:30 p.m., Jocyln M. Persun, 28 of Williamsport sustained minor injury following a crash on Bloomingrove Road, Loyalsock Township. Trooper Jeffrey Vilello said Persun was negotiating a left hand curve in the roadway, just south of Keller Loop, when the vehicle traveled onto the berm. Persun steered back onto the roadway, but over-steered, rotating the vehicle counter clockwise 90 degrees and skidding across both north and south bound lanes. The vehicle struck a guard rail and spun an additional 90 degrees counter clockwise before coming to final rest. Persun’s two passengers, ages 9 and 11 were not injured. Persun was issued a warning for the crash, Vilello said.
Over a two-day period, someone broke into the Muncy Creek Township residence of Fannie Schuyler and stole copper pipes. Trooper Sean Cooney said the theft occurred between Dec. 16 and Dec. 18 at 4296 Route 442. Cooney said the copper pipe was removed from the baseboard heating within the residence.
Between Dec. 20-23, someone kicked in the rear door of the residence of David Lee Cohick, 29, of 871 Fox Hollow Road, Montoursville. Once inside, the person took a $300 tool set then proceeded outside, where they stole approximately $90 worth of gutters and downspouts from the residence and in a spare pile outside. Trooper Jared King said the theft occurred between 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. in Upper Fairfield Township.
On Dec. 18, shortly before 2:30 a.m., Kimberly Lynn Henning and Michael Grosso were involved in a verbal argument while at 131 Chadlee Drive, Armstrong Township. Trooper David Walker said as Grosso left the property, Henning, 19, of Muncy, kicked the right side rear view mirror of Grosso’s car, causing it to break. Henning also punched and broke the front window of Grosso’s residence in South Williamsport, Walker said. Total damage was $140; harassment charges were filed.
