Police Alert Public to Scam in Name of Sick Child - PSP Montoursville are investigating a scane in which two individuals were fraudulently soliciting funds for a child suffering a medical condition. Trooper Michael Knight said a concerned resident was contacted by the scammers to donate money on Dec. 22. Being aware of the scam, the resident immediately notified state police with the informaiton and the idividuals were identified. There have been no charges filed at this time, Knight said. The public is reminded to be aware of these types of potentials scams; if a donation to any cause is being considered, ensure the cause is legitimate and any information being provided is accurate. Contact the organization or verify the source that is completing the fundraising. Equire that the solicitors identify themselves and their connection to the organization by a valid source, such as in identification card. And as always, if you have become a victim of theft through a scam, report the incident immedately to the Pennsylvania State Police.

Alleged Loyalsock Township Theft Leads to Prison – PSP Montoursville say a man’s previous criminal history accelerated an incident of alleged retail theft this week, sending the man to prison. Trooper Jared R. King said William McCormick, 43, entered K-Mart on the Gold Strip and put multiple clothing items into a duffle bag and attempted to exit the store without paying. McCormick was apprehended and brought back to PSP Montoursville where he was processed. Upon investigation, McCormick’s documents showed eight priors for retail theft. He was video arranged by District Judge Carn and placed in the Lycoming County prison on $15,000 straight bail.

Alleged Harassment Charges in Lycoming County – PSP Montoursville report the following harassment incidents:

On Dec. 16, 4 p.m., Brian Harmon, 45, made alleged threats toward Forrest Mull, 40 that he would hit Mull’s children if they came into his yard again. Trooper James Doane said Harmon then threatened Mull by picking up a snow shovel and throwing it over his should while approaching Mull in an aggressive manner at 4800 Route 287 highway, Mifflin Township. Harmon was cited for harassment, Doane said.

On Dec. 19 around 1:30 p.m., Nicole M. DiMassimo, 24, of Linden, and Kelly Jo Fisher, 40, of Williamsport were involved in a domestic dispute at Leader Care South Assisted Living Facility, Loyalsock Township. Trooper Daniel Kozak said the argument became physical when DiMassimo allegedly pushed Fisher into a chair. Fisher then allegedly punched DiMassimo in the back of the neck. Both were charged with summary harassment, Kozak said.

Crews from local fire departments and emergency personnel responded to the following incidents on Thursday, Dec. 22:

  • 6:35 a.m., vehicle accident, Route 220 / Deer Lake Rd., Shrewsbury Township; Picture Rocks and Muncy Township dispatched.
  • 9:43 a.m., structure fire, 300 block Corning Ave., Porter Twp.; JS Independent Hose, JS Citizen’s Hose/Salladasburg and JSA EMS responded.
  • 12:26 p.m., car fire, 300 Lycoming Mall Circle; Muncy Township dispatched.
  • 4:45 p.m., unknown fire, 52 Fredna Ave., Montgomery, Clinton Twp. and Washington Twp. / Elimsport dispatched.
  • 7:15 p.m., vehicle accident, 25000 block Route 180, Loyalsock Twp.; township responded.
  • 10:08 p.m., fire, 161 Upper Bobst Mountain Rd., Lewis Twp.; Trout Run dispatched.
