Alleged Simple Assault Escalates to Burglary, Prison for Williamsport Man – PSP Montoursville jailed a Lycoming County man with multiple charges following a simple assault incident on Sunday. Trooper Michael G. Shipman said around 4:30 p.m., Walter Chapman III engaged in a fight with Walter Chapman Jr. of Trout Run. Following the fight, Chapman III used a car battery to smash out a windshield on a vehicle owned by the junior Chapman, then entered the junior’s camper and removed an Emerson television. Chapman III was charged with burglary, theft, simple assault, criminal mischief and related counts and was committed to the Lycoming County prison after failing to post $15,000 straight bail.
Elementary School Burglarized – PSP Montoursville say four juveniles were identified after damaging the interior of the Elimsport elementary school in Washington Township. Trooper Jeffrey Vilello said the burglary occurred just before 1 p.m. on Sunday. The four were later identified and will be petitioned into juvenile court for the crimes that were committed. The elementary school is in the Montgomery Area School District.
Pennsylvania State Police responded to the following incidents in Lycoming and Clinton County:
DRUG POSSESSION – On Saturday, Dec. 3, approximately 7:35 a.m., Donald E. Summerson, 58, of Linden, was lodged at the Lycoming County Prison on an active bench warrant. Trooper Gary Beadle said during the intake process, a prison employee located marijuana and various drug paraphernalia in the cloth of Summerson. Criminal charges were filed against Summerson, Beadle said.
THEFT - On Thursday, Dec. 1, between 10:30 p.m. and 10:45 p.m., Rose Cook, 38, of Reach Road, Williamsport, reported her purse to have been taken while at Morey’s Bar, 2010 E. 3rd St. Williamsport.
THEFT BY DECEPTION – Investigations are ongoing involving Jeffrey Clark, 37, of Picture Rocks, who reported that he was a victim of access device fraud involving the unauthorized use of a credit card. Trooper Paul McGee said Clark reported the unauthorized use took place between Nov. 11-14.
THEFT – Trooper Christopher Soo reports that Marie Elizabeth Eisenhower, 30, of Mill Hall, concealed two pizzas under coats and exited the Weis store at 6 Mill Brook Plaza in Bald Eagle Township. Eisenhower did not pay for the pizzas when she left the store around 5:50 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 5, Soo said.
THEFT – On Tuesday, Dec. 6, shortly before 1 p.m., Jarad Evan Knopsnyder, of Rockwood, Pennsylvania, entered the Flying-J store on Nittany Valley Drive in Mill Hall. Trooper Riggle reports Knopsnyder took off his coat and removed a t-shirt off the rack and put it on then put his coat back on. Additionally, Knopsnyder took a pair of gloves and fled the building without paying. He was stopped at the gas pumps by the store manager, Riggle said.
HARASSMENT – On Dec. 2, 10 p.m., Michael Betts, 52, and Connie Betts, 42, both of Williamsport, got into an argument while at 2012 Reed St., Loyalsock Township. During the argument, Michael Betts threw Christmas ornaments at the woman and hit her in the head. No charges were filed because the woman refused to prosecute, Trooper Joel Miles said.
CRIMINAL MISCHIEF – During the overnight hours of Dec. 1, 5 p.m. to 9 a.m., Dec. 2, someone damaged the mailbox belonging to Richard Lanyon Dill, 76, of 1318 McKay Road.
HARASSMENT - Around 11:15 p.m. on Dec. 2, Robert Paulhamus, 35, and Cory Swartz, 35, both of Montoursville, got into an argument while at 125 Irion Lane in Fairfield Township. During the argument, Swartz punch Paulhamus, resulting in a bloody lip and a small laceration to Paulhamus’ head.
