Union County Community Foundation Holds Annual Celebration Event and Honors Two Professional Advisors
LEWISBURG, PA – The Union County Community Foundation (UCCF) honored those who have contributed to its success at an event attended by UCCF supporters at the Slifer House Museum. The annual “Starry Night” celebration was held to honor donors of the Community Foundation. It is through their passions that dreams become a reality and the future of Union County is brighter.
“The annual celebration is one way UCCF recognizes the many bighearted donors who have helped build its community endowment over the years,” said Dawn Linn, Vice President of Philanthropy. “Their generosity allows the Community Foundation to provide grants and scholarships to nonprofit organizations and students in Union County.”
At the event one lucky guest had the opportunity to make a “starry night” grant of $1,000 to a nonprofit of their choice. Carol Metzger had the winning fortune “When we help neighbors, we help ourselves” by Franklin Thomas in her chocolate fortune cookie. Mrs. Metzger chose to award her $1,000 grant to the Eastern Union County Supplemental Food Program. Meals are distributed twice a month at the First Baptist Church of Lewisburg.
Two professional advisors were also honored by UCCF for their assistance in directing client philanthropy to the Community Foundation. “The Door Opener Society recognizes professional advisors who help their clients achieve their charitable objectives through the Community Foundation,” said Linn. “We are proud to recognize attorneys Jeffrey Crossland and Martin Wilson.” Mr. Crossland and Mr. Wilson were honored as 2010 professional advisors whose donor referrals resulted in a current or planned gift to UCCF.
“I was pleasantly surprised to be recognized,” Wilson said. “The Union County Community Foundation is truly a community treasure, and I’m always happy to share what they do with my clients,” He stated that a number of his clients who want to make a lasting impact in the community have chosen the UCCF to help them do so.
Commenting on his recognition, Crossland said, “I am pleased to help my clients become aware of the many services the Union County Community Foundation provides. In many cases the Community Foundation helps solve my clients’ long-term charitable objectives.”
