Emergency Route 87 Permanent Repairs Set to Start Next Week

Montoursville - Permanent flood-recovery repairs to two sections of Route 87 in Lycoming County will be made under a $1,846,648 emergency contract awarded to Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc.

Bids were opened yesterday; the notice-to-proceed is set for Monday, with work expected to begin shortly thereafter.

The work will include emergency and permanent repairs, debris and deposition removal, excavation, pipe-culvert cleaning, drainage improvements, guiderail upgrades, and new blacktop pavement at the flood-damaged roadway along 1.2 miles just north of Route 973 near Slabtown, and a 0.4-mile section in the vicinity of Best Beach, several miles north of Montoursville.

Work under this contract is scheduled for a mid-December completion.

Motorists are reminded that the roadway remains closed to through traffic and is open to local traffic only.
