Williamsport Police Charge Man With Armed Robbery – Williamsport Bureau of Police arrested and charged a Williamsport man minutes after he robbed a drug store. Larry L. Burden Jr. of 1015 Market St., Apt. 6, was identified as the gunman who robbed the Rite Aid, 14 Fifth St this morning.
Officer Ananea Jr. said County Control received a complaint of a suspicious person outside the drug store on Oct. 9, at 9:47 a.m., Five minutes later, officers received a called that the Rite Aid by a person, later identified as Burden Jr. with a gun.
A witness who was inside Rite Aid at the time of the robbery, observed Burden talking close to clerk Adam Haberle, who then emptied the cash drawer. Burden left the store, and the witness confirmed with Rite Aid that they had just been robbed; the witness agreed to follow Burden moments after he exited the store, Ananea said.
The witness located Burden in the area of Pine and Sixth streets and continued to follow him while calling 911. The witness continued to follow Burden until police intervened. Officers took Burden into custody.
At the time of arrest, Burden had a Taurus .357 Magnum revolver, loaded with four live .357 rounds, concealed within his waistband. Also recovered on Burden was the $149 in cash that was allegedly stolen from Rite Aid. Burden was also in possession of nine individual tiny baggies of crack cocaine.
Additionally, police discovered that in 2011, Burden was found guilty for an offense under the controlled substance, drug, device and cosmetic act, prohibiting him from possessing a firearm. He was convicted of manufacturing, delivering possession with intent to manufacture of deliver a controlled substance.
Burden was sent to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $125,000 bail.
Burglary, Trespass, Criminal Mischief in Lycoming County – PSP Montoursville report numerous incidents of burglary, trespass, and criminal mischief in Lycoming County, including the following:
• Over a one-month period, from Aug. 31 to Sept. 28, an unknown individual appeared at Steinbacher R. Excavating and Young’s Truck Repair Service in Susquehanna Township. During those times, the person stole a large quantity of copper wire from Steinbacher Excavating and various vehicle parts from Young’s Truck Service, Trooper Gary Beadle said. • Between Sept. 5 and Sept. 9, someone entered a garage at 1151 North Torbert Lane in Watson Township and stole two chainsaws, a leaf blower, three chain saw bars and a chainsaw chain. Additionally, the person entered Hilton Mayes' home and stole approximately $1,000 cash from a desk drawer and three packs of cigarettes, Trooper Buynak said.
• On Sept. 21 between 10-11 p.m., someone opened a garage door at 354 Jake Wenner Lane in Bastress Township. The individual then damaged an SD card that was located inside a functioning trail camera, which was placed in an area inside the garage to photograph movement inside the garage. The intruder removed the SD card from the camera and removed the guts of the card and inserted the two plastic halves of the card back into the camera, Trooper Buynak said.
• Over a 24-hour period, someone entered Donald Brandt’s Used Cars business in Piatt Township and removed an extension cord, exhaust pipe clamps, mufflers, garden hose and garden hose cart from outside the property. Trooper John Maggs said the investigation is continuing; anyone with information is asked to contact 570.368.5700.
• On Sept. 29 between 10:30 a.m. and 3:20 p.m., someone drove a lawn mower through the yard of David Garg, 1920 Walters Road, Montoursville. Trooper Travis Pena said the grass was damaged by the actor before fleeing the scene in Loyalsock Township.
• On Oct. 3 around 1:20 p.m., Amanda Woronekin, 24, of Scranton, walked onto the property of Richard Kurtz in Lewis Township. Trooper Evarts said the property, located at 2354 Route 14 highway, was posted no trespassing when Woronekin entered the property. Woronekin then urinated next to Kurtz’s camper, Evarts said.
• On Oct. 6, items were stolen from an out building next to Route 442 highway in Franklin Township. The individuals was operating a red SUV, which headed east on Route 442 after they fled the scene, Trooper McDermott said.
