Little League Museum Hosts Monster Mash Baseball Bash on Oct. 22

October 7, 2011

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (Oct. 7, 2011) – The Peter J. McGovern Little League Museum will host an evening of child-friendly Halloween activities on Saturday, Oct. 22. The museum, part of the Little League International complex on Route 15 in South Williamsport, will be the site of the seventh annual Monster Mash Baseball Bash from 6 to 8 p.m.

The event is co-sponsored by the museum and Lycoming College’s Alpha Xi Delta women’s fraternity. All proceeds will go directly to Autism Speaks, Alpha Xi Delta’s national philanthropic partner. Autism Speaks is a non-profit agency dedicated to the research, funding and awareness of autism spectrum disorder.

“The Monster Mash Baseball Blast is a time for Alpha Xi Delta to give back to our community,” Jessica Evans, co-philanthropy chair for Alpha Xi Delta, said. “Seeing children smiling at the event warms our hearts and gives back to our true cause, autism. We’re really looking forward to a great turn out and wonderful experience.”

A haunted house is planned for the museum's lower level. A variety of crafts and games will be available on the upper level of the museum. Children will have the opportunity to design their own picture frames and make spider webs, while there will also be opportunities for photographs.

Games will include a Witches Broom Limbo, Pumpkin Bowling, Pin the Wart on the Witch and a mad scientist. There will also be costume judging contests. Children are encouraged to attend in costume and participate in the contest.

Additionally, children will have the opportunity to decorate a snack and enjoy treats.

“We have found that Monster Mash Baseball Bash is a great alternative to the traditional trick or treating,” Janice L. Ogurcak, Little League Museum Director, said. “Families have found the event to be a great way to enjoy their Halloween festivities. We are happy to partner with Alpha Xi Delta and offer the event again this year.”

Admission is $3 per child, ages 13 and younger. Children under two are admitted free as well as all adults. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
