Evangelical Community Hospital Plans Informational Breast Cancer Events for October

LEWISBURG—Evangelical Community Hospital will be hosting several educational events about women’s health throughout the month of October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month. They are as follows:

·         Mammogram Screenings: Call the Thyra M. Humphreys Center for Breast Health at 570-522-4217 to see if you qualify for one of these no-fee screening mammograms.

·         I Can Cope for the Breast Cancer Survivor: Thursdays, October 6-27 from 6-8 pm in Apple Conference Rooms AB, located behind the Hospital’s Dining Room. This program is a series of classes designed to help breast cancer patients, their families and friends learn more about cancer. Participants may come to one or all four of the programs.

·         Talk with the Doc—Breast Cancer: Thursday, October 20 at 6:30 pm at the Susquehanna Valley Mall Community Zone. John F. Turner, MD, FACS will be discussing self-assessment techniques and the importance of early detection.

·         Health Screening for the Uninsured or Underinsured: Friday, October 14 at the Hope United Methodist Church in Port Trevorton. Screenings include breast health, osteoporosis, cardiac health and others. Appointments are required.
