Williamsport Man Jailed for Drug Possession – On Tuesday, Sept. 27, Williamsport Police arrested and jailed a 33-year-old Williamsport man on three counts of drug possession. Bail was set at $15,000 for Brian Williams Jr. of 633 Washington Boulevard who possessed a large amount of marijuana. Officer Jason Bolt said a 15-year-old son who lives with Williams above Mercaldo’s Café said his father possessed two handguns and had been smoking marijuana as well as packaging and selling the drug to persons out of the home within the recent past. A search warrant executed on the single residence produced a shoebox containing Ziplock baggies of marijuana, a packed of sandwich baggies, a large plastic container with a small amount of loose marijuana inside, a black electronic scale, a separate small Ziplock baggie of marijuana, a marijuana grinder, and 14 .40 caliber pistol cartridges. Shortly before the house search warrant, officers executed a vehicle stop on Williams’s vehicle. He was later searched and a hand-rolled cigar containing suspected marijuana was located on him, which later tested positive, Bolt said. Williams was removed to the Lycoming County Prison.  

State Police Nab Man Wanted for Bench Warrant – PSP Montoursville filed drug charges against a Williamsport man, along with several summary traffic-related charged following a traffic stop earlier this month. William Polinski, 51, of 1206 West Third St., was stopped on Sept. 3 for an expired inspection sticker on Grampian Boulevard at its intersection with Poco Farm Road. Once stopped, Corporal Derron Farber determined that Polinski was wanted out of Lackawanna County on a bench warrant. After Polinski was taken into custody and his vehicle was being secured, marijuana and a drug pipe were seen in plain view to the right of the driver’s seat, Farber said.

Crews from local fire departments and emergency personnel responded to the following incidents on Monday, Sept. 26:
•    5:31 p.m., vehicle accident/fluid hazard, 43 Valley Heights Drive, Loyalsock; Loyalsock Twp. dispatched.
•    8:47 p.m., fire alarm, 210 Market St., Williamsport; city Bureau of Fire and SHS EMS responded.
Tuesday, Sept. 27:
•    1:56 a.m., smoke detector, 22 Bower St., Montgomery; Montgomery dispatched.
