Several events designed to benefit the community and provide health information have been scheduled by Susquehanna Health in the month of September.

Osteoporosis Screening Available September 9 at The LifeCenterTM
The risk for osteoporosis increases with age, menopause, inactivity and lifestyle choices or inherited tendencies. A quick and painless ultrasound heel screening to measure bone density level will be offered on Friday, September 9 at The LifeCenterTM, Bon-Ton/JC Penney wing of Lycoming Mall. Disaster Preparedness Session Planned for September 15
Learn how to prepare in advance for an emergency by attending a free Be Red Cross Ready session on Thursday, September 15 at The LifeCenterTM, Bon-Ton/JC Penney wing of Lycoming Mall. Instructors will explain how to manage emergencies by making a personal or family plan and preparing a “go bag.” Don’t be a statistic. Be Red Cross Ready! Choose to attend one of two sessions held from 10:30 am to noon or 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. Please call 570-321-2853 to register for this free program.

Kathryn Candor Lundy Breast Health Center Open House Set September 18
The Kathryn Candor Lundy Breast Health Center has relocated to the first floor of Divine Providence Hospital, 1100 Grampian Boulevard, Williamsport. Join us for an open house on Sunday, September 18 from noon to 2 pm. Tour the new facility that offers enhanced patient privacy with secluded check-in and check-out, convenient access and greater care coordination with other services under one roof, expanded capacity as well as a warm, comfortable environment to enhance the patient experience. Free Hunters’ Health Fair Scheduled September 20
Area hunters are invited to take advantage of free screenings, such as cholesterol and blood glucose testing, height, weight, vision and many more at Susquehanna Health’s Hunters’ Health Fair on Tuesday, September 20 from 1 to 6 pm in the Divine Providence Hospital auditorium. Special programs (including prostate cancer screenings, $30, and diabetes screenings, $20), displays and free giveaways such as gun locks, targets and personal firearm inventory lists will be offered throughout the event. AARP Driver Safety Course
Drivers who are over age 50 are encouraged to attend an eight-hour AARP Driver Safety Refresher course on Thursday, September 22 and Friday, September 23 from 12:30 to 4:30 pm at The LifeCenter, Bon-Ton/JC Penney wing of Lycoming Mall. The cost is $12 for AARP members or $14 for non-members. Prepayment is required. Please pre-register on Mondays or Wednesdays from 9:30 am to noon by calling the Lincoln Senior Center at (570) 323-3096. Free Confidential STD and HIV Testing Available at The LifeCenterTM
The Pennsylvania Department of Health and AIDS Resource will provide free sexually transmitted disease (STD) testing for chlamydia and gonorrhea and HIV testing on Friday, September 23 from 5 to 7 pm at The LifeCenterTM, Bon-Ton/JC Penney wing of Lycoming Mall. No appointment is necessary.

Exchange Old Thermometers at The LifeCenterTM
Old mercury thermometers may be disposed of and exchanged for new digital thermometers at The LifeCenter™, Bon-Ton/JCPenney wing of Lycoming Mall. The LifeCenter™ is open weekdays from 10 am to 5 pm. For more information, please call 570-321-2853.
