Susquehanna Health Employee Co-Authors Handbook

May 5, 2011

Eric Cipcic, a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) at Susquehanna Health, was recently recognized as a co-author and contributing editor of “Surgical Procedures&Anesthetic Implications: A Handbook for Nurse Anesthesia Practice,” a book written by Lynn Fitzgerald Macksey, Cipcic’s friend and fellow alumnus of the University of Pittsburgh Nurse Anesthesia Program.

The handbook, compiled over the course of a two-year period, is the first of its kind to examine the practical aspect of every type of surgery – from orthopedic to plastic and gastrointestinal to neurovascular. As a comprehensive reference for CRNAs and student anesthetists, the text also includes safety concerns, position and patient effect, techniques, special drugs in anesthesia abbreviations and a Spanish/English translator.

Cipcic’s first publication was an article published in the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists Journal April 2007 entitled “Mitral Valve Replacement: A Case Study.”  He has been employed at Susquehanna Health since 2007.
