Challenge at Crystal Lake Adds 5K Health Hike to Annual Trail Run
The third annual Challenge at Crystal Lake is scheduled for Sunday, May 15, 2011. This 15-mile endurance hike/trail run in northcentral Pennsylvania is designed to appeal to the hard-core trail runner, dedicated hiker or those who are reasonably fit and out for a real challenge.
The course stretches up and over the Endless Mountains, through Crystal Lake’s 960 wooded acres with two lakes and a variety of trails ranging from easy to difficult.
"We are proud to add a 5K health hike this year draw the more modest challengers,” said Anne E. Holladay, Administrator of the Skilled Nursing Unit at Muncy Valley Hospital. The race begins at 9 a.m. Awards will be given to all first place male and female participants in each age category, and everyone who completes the course receives a medal. Proceeds from the race go to the Muncy Valley Hospital Auxiliary.
