LEWISBURG—Women who live in Lycoming County and are uninsured or underinsured are invited to participate in a free mammogram program from Evangelical Community Hospital. This program is provided with support from the Williamsport Lycoming Community Foundation.
Mammograms are by appointment only and can be scheduled by calling the Thyra M. Humphreys Center for Breast Health at 570-522-4238. Women are encouraged to schedule their mammogram by June 1, as the program ends on June 30.
“We were so pleased to have the funding from groups like the Williamsport Lycoming Community Foundation to serve area residents who may fall through the cracks in terms of early detection because of a lack of or inadequate insurance,” Andrea Bertram, Director of the Center for Breast Health, noted.
“With approximately 40 percent of women in Pennsylvania not getting an annual mammogram, we anticipate that this funding will help us to reach more women with the important message that early detection of breast cancer saves lives.”
