Warhall, Brady to Perform at Avenue 209
LOCK HAVEN -- On Saturday, September 11th, singer-songwriters Warhall and Luke Brady will share a performance billing at Avenue 209, a coffee house at 209 Bellefonte Avenue in Lock Haven. Music begins 7:00PM.
Warhall is a one-man band who blends indie-rock, alternative, punk, and a hint of metal and hardcore. Andrew Warhall Cohick, the creator of this project, has been playing music since about the age of fifteen, and can now play nearly any instrument, writing and recording all of his own material at his home studio.
Cohick said, "Starting with a simple guitar or bass line, I work some sort of vocal melody around that. I then continue to record the drum sections, usually with real drums, and create what sounds like an entire band, by myself."
Johnny J. Blair "Singer at Large" and veteran musician-producer hosts a weekly radio show, The Billtown Bus Stop Radio Hour, on which Warhall was recently featured. Blair said, "Recording as a one-man band is working in loneliness, bare-knuckled and hardscrabble. Yet he's turning out some amazing music. When he gets a band together, it'll be a monster! His songcraft follows classic pop/rock instincts, but his recordings have atmosphere, like a dark Daniel Lanois, or Nick Drake on grunge. I'm tempted to compare Warhall to Jack White of White Stripes back when White was still in Detroit, cobbling together these Velvet Underground-y demos. There you have it-Warhall is the Jack White of Rauchtown, but spell it 'Rocktown.'"
Cohick added, "I think anyone can relate to my music. I simply sing openly about anything that is on my mind, ranging from the need for cash, addiction and personal struggles, heartbreak, death, and life. There is really something for everyone. Listen close."
Also performing is Jersey Shore-based singer-songwriter Luke Brady.
