Keep Our Forests Wild
A few weeks ago, I asked you to help us protect Pennsylvania's great state forests -- places like Sproul State Forest and the Tioga State Forest -- from being sold off to the highest bidder and opened up for dangerous gas drilling.
Our state representatives in Harrisburg heard your voice and passed House Bill 2235 with bipartisan support. Now it awaits its fate in the state Senate.
Ask your state senator to keep up the momentum and support the passage of HB 2235 to protect our state forests today.
This legislation is an important first step to protect our pristine wild forests from harmful gas drilling by implementing a moratorium on further drilling leases in our state forests for the next three years.
Already, state officials have opened up 700,000 acres of our state forests for gas drilling in the Marcellus Shale -- that's more than 40 percent of our forests over the Marcellus Shale.

Our state forests are well-known destinations for hiking, fishing,
camping and other outdoor activities, but most Pennsylvanians would be
shocked to hear that they're often sold off to the highest bidder for
destructive practices like gas drilling. Help us protect these great
forests -- e-mail your state senator today! Please feel free to share
this e-mail with your family and friends.
