SkateJam Fundraiser to Benefit Skatepark
WILLIAMSPORT – Momentum continues to build for Project: Williamsport Skatepark as the fundraising efforts get under way this weekend, March 20th from 7:30 – 10:30 p.m. at the first SkateJam fundraiser.
The event is being held at the Williamsport YMCA and will feature skatepark obstacles built by the youth and adult volunteers at the Work Day that took place last weekend at Williamsport Streets and Parks with materials donated by Your Building Center in Newberry.
The cost to participate in the event is $5 per person and proceeds will benefit Project: Williamsport Skatepark as they work to raise funds for matching grants. The event will include a raffle for prizes, freestyle skating, skateboarding and BMX biking, as well as a dance.
All skating participants are required to wear helmets and waivers are available and must be signed.
Project: Williamsport Skatepark is an initiative sponsored by the Mayor’s Youth Council and is devoted to the construction of a public concrete skatepark plaza in the city of Williamsport to serve all of Lycoming county and beyond.
Donations and sponsorships are now being accepted. Volunteers of all ages are welcome and encouraged to attend to SkateJam and all public planning meetings.
