PennDOT posting 10 more roads in Bradford County

Montoursville - PennDOT is advising motorists in Bradford County that another 10 roads will soon be posted with permanent, year-round, 10-ton weight restrictions.

The following state highways will get the weight restrictions along their entire lengths:

State Route 1008 (Crow Hill Road) in Wyalusing and Tuscarora townships, from Route 706 at Camptown to Spring Hill Road;

State Route 3014 (Spencer Road) in Canton Township, from the Tioga County line to the intersection with Route 14;

State Route 4007 (Mac Road) in Smithfield and Burlington townships, from Route 6 at Burlington to Saco Road near Riggs;

State Route 4019 (Iron Mine Road, Elmira Street) in Columbia Township, from Route 6 in Sylvania to Austinville Road in Austinville;

State Route 4021 (Chapel Hill Road) in Smithfield, Athens and Ridgebury townships, from Milan Road to Wolcott Hollow Road;

State Route 4022 (Wilawana Road) in Athens Township, from the New York State line to Elmira Street;

State Route 4033 (Sopertown Road) in Columbia Township, from the Tioga County line to Austinville Road;

State Route 4034 (Roaring Run Road) in Wells and South Creek townships, from Coryland Road to Route 14;

State Route 4037 (Old Royd Road) in Columbia Township, from the Tioga County line to Austinville;

State Route 4038 (Baker Road) in Wells Township, from the Tioga County line to Coryland Road.

The postings are being made on the basis of traffic and engineering studies indicating that these highways may be damaged by the use of vehicles that exceed the restriction.

School buses and local-delivery trucks are exempted from the postings.

The postings will take effect as soon as the required signing is erected.  A PennDOT maintenance crew will begin placing the road posting signs on March 18.

River Road Guide Rail Work Rescheduled; Daylight Detours Planned

Montoursville - A daylight-only detour from approximately 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays will be implemented on State Route 1009/1008 (River Road) in White Deer Township, Union County starting Monday, March 8.

The detour will use Old Route 15 and the north leg of Tabernacle Road.

Union County PennDOT maintenance forces will be installing guide rail along the northbound right shoulder between High Street and Tabernacle Road as part of a low-cost safety improvement project.

Work is anticipated to take approximately two weeks south of Tabernacle Road; after that work will begin north of Tabernacle Road on River Road for approximately two more weeks.

This work was originally scheduled to take place last month, but was delayed due to winter weather.

A detour is being implemented during work hours to permit the safest and most efficient use of personnel to complete this project.

State Route 3016 (Hooflander Road Section) Drainage Improvements Scheduled; Daylight Detours Planned

Montoursville - A PennDOT maintenance crew in Northumberland County is scheduled to replace multiple cross pipes to improve drainage along a section of State Route 3016 in Jordan Township starting this Wednesday, March 10.

Daylight detours will be in effect weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. during the work.

A red-arrow (-->) detour will be in effect using Greenbrier Road, Schwaben Creek Road, Route 225 and Hooflander Road (State Route 3003 section) for the first phase of pipe replacements.  A different detour route will be announced later in the project.

The crew will replace approximately 20 cross pipes along the Hooflander Road section of SR 3016, from Urban to the intersection with Klingerstown Road.

The work will take place over several weeks, weather permitting.
