U.S. Veteran Arthur M. Lewis, 79, formerly of McEwensville, died Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at the Charles Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport.

Arthur worked for the Borough of South Williamsport for 19 years, was an Army veteran of the Korean War and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.

Born March 30, 1930 in Williamsport, he was the son of James and Ethel Greaves Lewis.

Surviving are his children, Gary Wilson of Williamsport, Heidi (Keith) White of Allenwood, Donald (Shari) Wilson, Wesley (Julie) Lewis, Jammie Lewis, Robin Lewis, Pearl Lewis, Oliver Lewis and Raymond Lewis, all of Williamsport and Arthur Lewis of Tenn.; brothers, Robert Lewis of Montoursville, Raymond (Patty) Lewis of Cogan Station and Donald (Kathy) Lewis of Muncy; sisters, Della (Chuck) Wacker and Marilyn Raemsch, both of Montoursville; 31 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Arthur was predeceased by his wife of 36 years, the former Sarah Abby Chapman, in 2003 and a sister, Irene Bliss.

Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 13, 2009, at Knight-Confer’s, 1914 Memorial Avenue, with the Rev. P. Franklin Hartzel Jr. officiating.
