Alvin Wainwright, 79, of 1931 Blaine St., died Sunday, November 1, 2009 at Manor Care North following an extended illness.

Alvin and his wife, the former Mary Grace, would have observed their 59th wedding anniversary on November 11th.

Alvin was retired from the Philadelphia Police Department. Illness brought him to Williamsport to live with his daughter and son-in-law. He was a member of the Philadelphia F. O. P.

Born July 30, 1930 in Philadelphia, he was the son of Henry and Alice Gammage Wainwright.

Surviving in addition to his wife are son, Anthony (Shelia) of Omaha, Neb; daughter, Vanessa (Gregory) Stewart, with whom he lived; grandchildren, Devon, Nicole, Della, Meesha, Gregory, Jr. and Kennetta and seven great grandchildren.
