Lycoming County United Way Accepting Applications for Homeless Assistance Funds
WILLIAMSPORT -- The Lycoming County United Way, on behalf of Lycoming County, is now accepting applications from agencies to allocatate Homeless Assistance Program funds for the fiscal year (FY) 2017-2018. Eligible applicants must : 1) be an agency in Lycoming County, 2) be private voluntary nonprofits or units of government, 3) ensure that only homeless or near homeless clients are served with HAP funds, 4) practice nondiscrimination, 5) demonstrate the capability to provide at least one or more of the 5 components listed, 5) maintain client case records and client intake procedures, 6) allow monitoring by the Lycoming County United Way and/or the County of Lycoming, and 7) comply with all HAP grant terms, conditions and funding requirements.
Lycoming County receives the annual allocation of Homeless Assistance Program funds through a county-based Human Service Block Grant (HSBG). HAP is a county-directed program that offers a variety of supportive services to individuals and families experiencing or at risk for homelessness and who can demonstrate that, with HAP intervention, they will be able to meet their basic housing needs in the near future. HAP includes five components: bridge housing, case management, rental assistance, emergency shelter, and innovative supportive housing.
