Senator Scarnati: Pennsylvania Small Business Grants Awarded

February 11, 2014

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has awarded energy efficiency grants to 12 small businesses in the 25th Senatorial District, according to Senator Joe Scarnati (R-Jefferson).

The Small Business Advantage Grant Program, administered through the state Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) provides a 50 percent matching grant of up to $9,500 toward energy efficiency improvements on systems such as lighting, heating, cooling, as well as building insulation projects.

Grants awarded within the 25th Senatorial District are a portion of the $996,713 dedicated to a total of 134 small businesses statewide through this round of funding.

“I am very pleased that so many small businesses within our community will see the benefits of the Small Business Advantage Grant Program,” Scarnati stated.  “Local manufacturers, retailers, service providers and agriculture businesses play a vital role in Pennsylvania’s economy and are an essential part of our region.  By assisting these small businesses with their investment in new and updated energy efficient equipment, we can help with reducing their overall energy consumption while creating long-term savings.”

Scarnati explained that each business receiving a grant is a for-profit business enterprise that is a corporation, limited liability company, partnership, sole proprietorship or other legal business entity that has no more than 100 full-time employees.
