Hamlin, PA – Today, the Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center announced the award of a contract to Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers for primary care, telehealth and women’s health services in Honesdale, Pennsylvania.

“This contract has been years in the making,” said U.S. Representative Tom Marino (PA-10).  “Since my first day in office, this has been a top priority and I am very pleased that our veterans will finally be able to get access to quality, local care.  Right now, veterans in Wayne and Pike County travel into Wilkes-Barre – this outreach clinic will reduce their travel time significantly.”

In a release, the Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center anticipated the clinic would be “open for veterans in 2014,” and that more information would be available in the coming months.

“The men and women who selflessly serve our nation do so to defend the freedom and liberty we hold so dear.  In turn, it is our duty to ensure they receive the benefits and care to which they are entitled, including access to reasonably convenient health care facilities," Marino added.  "My staff and I work tirelessly on behalf of the many veterans in Pennsylvania’s 10th District and we will continue to advocate for them and their families."
