Cutters can’t overcome early deficit; fall 6-2
Niles, Ohio – The Cutters gave up five runs in the first two innings, and couldn’t climb out of the hole, losing to Mahoning Valley 6-2.
Jonathan Musser had another tough outing for Williamsport.
He picked up his second loss, pitching just 1.1 innings while allowing five runs on three hits while walking four. Offensively, Brian Pointer continued his hot hitting, extending his hit streak to seven games while going 2-for-3 with a double. He is now 4-for-6 with three extra base hits on this road trip.
Mitch Walding also went 2-for-3 while Chace Numata finished 1-for-4 with a pair of runs driven in. Williamsport scored first when Diego Gonzalez scored in the first on a Numata groundout, but Mahoning Valley answered when Juan Romero hit his league-leading fourth home run of the year.
