Clayton Paxson Takes First for Microbiology Presentation

MANSFIELD, PA— Mansfield University biology major Clayton Paxson took first place in the undergraduate molecular biology category at the annual meeting of the Allegheny Branch of the American Society for Microbiology held at Mount Aloysius College in Cresson, PA on November 4-5.
Paxson, a senior from Wellsboro, PA, presented his research poster “Identification of a Putative Triclosan Oxygenase in Sphingomonas sp. RD1.”
Also at the meeting, Jeanne Kagle, Paxson’s research advisor and associate professor of Biology, conducted a workshop entitled “Using Video Tutorials to Prepare Students for Microbiology Lab.”
Faculty and students from 16 colleges and universities took part in the meeting.
