Genghis Barbie Coming November 14

November 4, 2011

MANSFIELD, PA— Genghis Barbie, the innovative New York-based horn quartet, will perform in concert at Steadman Theatre on Monday, November 14 at 7:30 p.m. The concert is free and open to the public.
With a combined 26 years of conservatory training, Genghis Barbie delivers a visceral and unadulterated musical adventure. Performing arrangements of pop music from the 70′s to today, Genghis Barbie is the most versatile and expansive group on New York City’s music scene.
Alana Vegter (a.k.a. Freedom Barbie), Rachel Drehmann (Atilla the Horn), Jacquelyn Adams (Jungle Barbie) and Danielle Kuhlmann (Velvet Barbie) combine to create distinctive, interactive and personal performances. The group’s self-stated goal, backed up by an online campaign, is to appear on the Ellen Degeneres Show in the coming year.
The New York Times said of a Genghis Barbie performance, “Four French horn players take on Lady Gaga, Queen & more….Elegant and precise.”
In addition to their concert, the members of Genghis Barbie will conduct a master class at 9:30 a.m. and be part of a music entrepreneurship discussion at 12:30 p.m., both in Butler Center, Room 163. Both events are free and open to the public.
