WILKES-BARRE “ Wilkes University has announced all Colonel football games will be available over the radio thanks to its partnership with ESPN Radio affiliate 1050 AM and 104.1 FM.  2011 will mark Wilkes' first full season of football coverage from ESPN Williamsport.

ESPN Williamsport began broadcasting Wilkes' men's and women's basketball games last season and will remain the official home for Colonel basketball on the radio in 2011-12. All of Wilkes' ESPN Radio broadcasts are streamed online through www.espnwilliamsport.com, allowing Colonel fans and alumni throughout the world access to the broadcasts.

œWilkes University is very excited to continue its relationship with ESPN Williamsport, said Vince Scalzo, Wilkes' sports information director. œGeneral Manager Todd Bartley has opened a new way of access for coverage of Wilkes University athletics for our fans and alumni around the world. œIt will provide full exposure of our athletic teams not just in the surrounding area, but in other large media markets.

"Wilkes University has a strong winning football tradition that enjoys great fan support, said Bartley.It was very easy to make this decision to add such a great program to an already outstanding deal with Colonel athletics."

ESPN Radio is the country's largest sports radio network, providing more than 9,000 hours of talk and event content annually to 750 stations nationwide, including the top 100 markets.

"The foresight shown by athletic director Adelene Malatesta and sports information director Vince Scalzo to recognize that the online and mobile device listening audience is growing exponentially on a daily basis speaks volumes to their leadership, Bartley added. œIt is our pleasure to begin serving the Class of 2015 this fall."

Trevor Turner will serve as the play-by-play voice and will be joined by Tom Ferguson for several broadcasts.
