United Methodist archivist receives national award

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Dr. Milton Loyer, who has served as the United Methodist archivist at Lycoming College for more than 20 years, has been awarded the Ministry of Memory award from the Historical Society of the United Methodist Church and the General Commission on Archives and History. The honor, presented to Loyer on July 19 in Seattle, Wash., is awarded to only one individual each year.
In addition to serving as the archivist for the Susquehanna Conference of the UMC, Loyer founded The Chronicle, an annual regional journal of United Methodist heritage and history, and has served as its editor for the past 21 years. Loyer has a doctorate in statistics and periodically teaches part-time in the College’s Department of Mathematics. Lycoming’s United Methodist archives are located on the third floor of Snowden Library.
