Columbia-Montour Visitors Bureau debuts new Outdoor Sportsman Blog
BLOOMSBURG/DANVILLE, PA Ð Did you know that small game hunting (rabbit/squirrel) is still in season for Columbia and Montour Counties until February 2, 2010? Did you know that trapping for coyotes, foxes, skunks, opossums, raccoons, weasels and beavers is in season until February 21, 2010 for Columbia and Montour Counties ?
To help bring relevant and accurate information on the outdoor sportsmen activities in the area, the Columbia-Montour Visitors Bureau (CMVB) is excited to announce the launch of its "ask tom" blog.
CMVB Board Member, and local outdoor sportsman, Tom Austin is helping to get the word out to locals and visitors alike about all of the hunting and fishing opportunities in the Columbia-Montour region.
Debuting on January 6, 2010 on the Visitor Bureau's website, the "ask tom" blog focuses on articles and content relevant to hunting and fishing in the two county region. Wondering what bait works best on Little Fishing Creek or where the best hunting spot is for Turkey ? Ask Tom! Visitors to the CMVB's website can read articles posted by Tom and also email questions to him (asktom@cmvb.com) specific to Columbia and Montour counties.
"I can not count the number of times where I have run into out of town visitors who are unaware of all of the outdoor sportsmen amenities our region has to offer," says Tom Austin. "The Visitors Bureau is working hard to make sure everyone is aware of where the open hunting and fishing areas are in the two county area and I am pleased to be able to help in their endeavors."
Visitors to the area, as well as locals, are invited to log on to the CMVB's website and take part on the "ask tom" blog. No log in is required to access or post comments on the blog and everyone is encouraged to email Tom outdoor sportsmen questions.
Along with the new blog, the Visitors Bureau has also vamped up its brochures posted online. Visitors to their brochure page can find downloads for the following outdoor recreation brochures: "Nature at its Best" (a 4-page excerpt from the 2010 Visitors Guide detailing all of the trails, hunting and fishing spots, state parks, forests and natural areas, as well as key birding locations throughout our region), "Bike Routes in Columbia and Montour Counties" (from 5 miles to 50 miles, turn by turn directions for rides throughout the region), "State Game Lands in Columbia and Montour Counties" (maps for all 6 state games lands in the two county area), and "Open Fishing Waters on Fishing Creek" (maps for all 6 kiosks along Fishing Creek detailing the open fishing waters).
