Spitler to Offer Fall Pastel Workshop at Packwood LEWISBURG, (Pa.)--Pastel artist Theresa Crowley Spitler will once again offer a workshop at the Packwood House Museum on Saturday, September 25, from 10am to 4pm. The cost per student is $50 and is open to all aged 18 and up. Students will explore the beauty of pastel painting by learning various techniques, experiment with brush strokes and materials used to create pastel art. Students will also learn how to arrange a composition using light and shadow to bring contrast to the painting. Theresa Crowley Spitler resides in Montoursville, PA. After a career in teaching she spends much of her time creating art. She teaches pastel painting workshops and demonstrates her pastel techniques for art organizations and area schools. Theresa finds inspiration in the everyday objects she includes in her still life paintings. Her travels influence her landscapes and she frequently paints on location. "Pastel is a very pure medium with brilliant color. It can also give the artist immediate results. It is very satisfying to create the illusion of form and substance out of dust. There are infinite ways to make strokes and I experiment using different surfaces." Theresa has exhibited and won awards in juried exhibitions. She is a member of various art organizations including the Bald Eagle Art League, the Lewisburg Arts Council and the Central PA Pastel Society. Nina Ford was named Volunteer of the Quarter at N4Cs for the months of April, May and June. Nina works at the front desk, always with an enthusiastic greeting to all visitors, and also helps with the planning of N4Cs' dances and parties. She has been an active supporter of the Center since its inception three years ago, and enjoys the people she meets. In addition to her meeting and greeting responsibilities, Nina has also become an excellent trainer of new volunteers working at the front desk. But in addition to relaying all of the procedural work that goes on behind the desk, Nina also shares her enthusiasm for the job and the Center.
