What is

Launched in September 2009, is the insider source of everything local, offering a combination of local and regional news, tips, stories, and other content. is a division of Kolb Net Works and covers 11 counties, including hundreds of towns and neighborhoods.

What is a Correspondent? publishes credible and knowledgeable contributors who create unique and original content to entertain, inform and inspire readers on new subjects every day. is not a blog; our Correspondents are local insiders who provide reliable information about local and category-specific topics.

What does a Correspondent do?
Correspondents provide information and resources that can be useful to the people within their communities. For example, a Sports Correspondent may write about high school, college or professional football, including covering updates on draft, trades, the latest game, and where to find statistics and video. Other correspondents may be interested in writing about theater, art, outdoor topics, recreation, cooking or health.

Our contributors provide informative and concise articles, often including pictures, videos, and links. makes this content visible to information-seekers online.

Our most successful Correspondents also spend time promoting their content to their social and business networks using Twitter, Facebook, Digg, LinkedIn, StumbleUpon, listservs, message boards and word-of-mouth. If you're unfamiliar with these tools, will help you begin your own online marketing and branding.

What is the time commitment?

We ask that you keep your topic fresh and relevant, so we suggest 1-2 posts per week to help engage your audience. On average, an active and successful Correspondent spends 2-4 hours per week writing and publishing content, responding to reader comments, and marketing. The time you allot is up to you, but frequent publishing is one major key to success as a contributor.

What happens next?

Our application requires a writing sample, a biography, a photograph, a
brief explanation of your expertise and your contact information.
Please note that spelling and grammar are important. Once you submit a sample, it goes to the editor and the publisher of Every application is reviewed, though sometimes it can take up to two weeks due to the volume of applicants. You will be contacted via email once your initial proposal is submitted, and should you choose to become a Correspondent, be prepared to send these items within the first few days:

  • A photo of yourself for your page
  • A brief biographical statement of up to 100 words, written in third person
  • A working e-mail
