Japan Leaving South Williamsport with Second Consecutive Little League Baseball® World Series Crown

For the second straight season, the Japan Region is Little League Baseball® World Champions, defeating the United States champs from the West Region, 6-4, at Howard J. Lamade Stadium in South Williamsport, Pa., on Sunday afternoon in front of a crowd of 28,119 people.

Chun An Wu led the way with three RBI for the Asia-Pacific champions from Taoyuan, Chinese Taipei, as they used a five-run fifth inning to cruise to an 11-2 victory over the West Region champions from Rio Rico, Ariz., in the Junior League Baseball World Series championship game on Saturday, Aug. 17, at Heritage Park in Taylor, Mich.

Keener announced today the enshrinement of New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and author Harlan Coben into the Little League Hall of Excellence. Governor Christie and Mr. Coben were teammates in the Livingston American Little League in the mid-1970s, and Governor Christie’s father, Bill Christie, was their coach.
