Thirty-two times since 1961, Muncy has won the Old Shoe trophy, including this year's match against Montgomery on Friday, Sept. 2. Muncy routed the Red Raiders 19-0. Other winners during Friday night football action included Hughesville over Warrior Run 11-8 and Lewisburg defeating Milton 49-6.
Muncy Lifters Earn Second in Competition - A seven-man team of brawn and muscles from Muncy High School arrived at West Perry High School last Saturday in hopes of breaking records and bringing home trophies at a weight-lifting competition. What the team did bring home, however, was second place in the tournament, and satisfaction of being the only team representing Lycoming County. more»
After defeating Holy Cross with a 38-33 first-round win last Saturday, Hughesville faced Pine Grove on Wednesday night and was turned back at the state champion gate. Pine Grove defeated the Spartans 57-44, bringing Hughesville’s incredible varsity boys basketball to an abrupt end.

The Hughesville boys basketball team won the District IV Class AA title Saturday afternoon, 36-33 over Central Columbia at Danville. Now bound for state tournament—their sixth consecutive showing—the Spartans will face Holy Cross on Saturday, 3 p.m. at Montoursville High School. more»
