Local Food
My goals for this section is that it will bring information to readers about healthy foods and how to grow, buy or make them.
Taking a walk through any public place shows a health problem with two thirds of americans: obesity. This problem ripples through a community in many ways including health care, education, work force abilities and poverty.
After watching videos of Food, Inc, King Korn, Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead, and reading Michaal Pollan's The Omnivore's Dilema, It became clear to me that what we eat is more important that I previously knew. This got me looking for more Internet information, specifically pointing to local food resources.
My vision for this section is to help connect people searching for more local healthy food choices with people who know about them, and places that provide them. Hopefully, it will grow to information about local farmer markets, grower markets, organic farms, gardeners, restaurants that serve locally grown food, tips on gardening, where to get composting materials, Community Supported Agriculture (CSAs) and such.
As always, I welcome your thoughts and input.
