The Uptown Music Collective, the area’s premier nonprofit school of music, will be holding their annual Summer Music Fest at the Brandon Park Band Shell in Williamsport on Sunday, August 7.
This popular, all day event will include live music, free music clinics, food vendors, giveaways, and free games and activities for kids. The music starts at 12pm featuring performances from Collective workshops, the Uptown Music Collective summer recitals and local favorites like Treehouse, Clouds Make Sounds, and Lexi Donato. The night will end with a recapitulation of the Collective’s critically acclaimed spring show, The Unforgettable Fire: a Tribute to U2 and Irish Rock at 8 p.m.
Throughout the day there will be free clinics by some of the best musicians Williamsport has to offer. Clinic topics will include Bass Guitar, Electric Guitar, Drums, Guitar Repair and more. Giveaways include gift certificates from the Uptown Music Collective and other local businesses as well as the grand prize of a brand new electric guitar. Food venders include the Hard Times Cart and Acme BBQ. Free activities for kids include face painting, creative dance by Milissa Augustine, bracelet making, a musical maze and more. Event sponsored by K and S Music, the (Re) Imagination Group and Barrel 135. Media sponsor, Backyard Broadcasting.
“We all look forward to the Summer Music Festival as an opportunity to perform music and have fun in the sun together. For new students, it’s often their first chance to play in the Brandon Park Bandshell, which is a great experience! There are also free clinics, games, giveaways and great food! It’s a family friendly day not to be missed, filled with fun and music,” says Collective Executive Director Dave Brumbaugh.
