Two New Stores to Open in Muncy
Vacant for less than two months, a storefront located in Lycoming Mall is being occupied by a similar business, while a restaurant was erected during the summer, both slated to open within weeks of each other.
Books A Million is scheduled to open Thursday, Nov. 3 in the former Borders store, which announced bankruptcy plans earlier this summer (http://northcentralpa.com/article/borders-lycoming-mall-scheduled-close).
Books-A-Million operates retail stores modeled after one of three formats: superstores, traditional and Joe Muggs Newsstands. Traditional stores average 3,500 to 4,500 square feet and operate primarily in mall environments. All Booklands carry a full selection of books and magazines, and many include card and gift departments as well.
Founded in 1917 as a street corner newsstand in Florence, Alabama, Books-A-Million, Inc. has grown to become the premier book retailing chain in the Southeastern United States, and the third largest book retailer in the nation. Based in Birmingham, Alabama, the company currently operates more than 200 stores in 23 states and the District of Columbia.
Cracker Barrel will open for business on Monday, Oct. 31. Located in Lycoming Crossing adjacent to Burger King, the franchise is the 23rd restaurant opened by Cracker Barrel in Pennsylvania.
