Trout-Fishing Seminar to be Featured at Quarterly Meeting
The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) will host a trout-fishing seminar in conjunction with its quarterly business meeting set for Jan. 23-24 at the Harrisburg headquarters, located at 1601 Elmerton Avenue, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
The trout-fishing seminar will be held on Wednesday evening from 6:30 – 9 p.m. in the Commission’s Susquehanna Room.
“Baseball has been regarded as the nation’s pastime, but another pastime deeply rooted in generations of tradition is fishing,” said PFBC Executive Director John Arway. “While pitchers and catchers may be a month away from reporting for baseball’s spring training, it’s never too early for anglers to begin preparations for the 2013 trout season.”
“When it comes to trout fishing in Pennsylvania, the focus is often on the traditional opening day, or ‘home opener,’ occurring in the spring,” he added. “However, like baseball, there is a lot of trout action occurring pre-season.”
Presentations will focus on fishing opportunities, techniques and strategies, as well as sharing tips for taking children trout fishing. Youth anglers are welcome, and encouraged to attend. Several trout-related organizations will have displays and information available.
“Consider this part of your ‘spring training’ routine for trout fishing,” Arway said.
The program is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Space is limited and registration will close on Jan. 21, 2013. Click here or visit the PFBC website at www.fishandboat.com to register and learn more.
As part of the Commission’s quarterly meeting, committees will meet beginning at 12:40 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 23, and again at 8 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 24. Formal consideration of the agenda by the full Commission will begin at approximately 11:15 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 24. All committee meetings and the formal meeting are open to the public.
A complete copy of the meeting schedule and the full agenda for the meeting can be found on the PFBC’s web site at www.fishandboat.com/minutes.htm.
