Tee up for Kids at the Brown Library

The James V. Brown Library will become an 18 hole miniature golf course, just for one day, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov.13.

Players of all ages will pay $5 to play the course, which will use the stacks, reading areas and ramps as fairways, in the Vintage Library and in the Welch Wing. The course will end on the third floor of the Katherine Siegel Welch Wing, where there will be refreshments for sale, a Chinese Auction, and more.

Library Mini Golf started in Trumbull CT in 2005, when a few ‘dedicated lunatics’ came up with the idea of an indoor golf event, to benefit a library in Mississippi devastated by Hurricane Katrina. It was a huge success, and the ‘lunatics’ decided that the concept could benefit other libraries. Since that time, Library Mini Golf has helped many other libraries raise funds and have fun.

This is the second year for this fundraiser at the Brown Library. Last year, the event raised $6000 and more than 200 people played the course.

This is a positive way for Williamsport to come together for an important event, reinforcing the idea of the James V. Brown library as a gathering place for the community. It is an affordable way for a family to spend part of a Saturday, while helping the Library raise needed funds.
